GMAT Turns More Modern With A New Reasoning Section
As the CEO of GMAC puts it , in order to make GMAT a “microcosm” of today’s B-Schools, after carrying out a number of survey based exchanges with several management schools, they have launched an entirely new GMAT section that is premeditated to discover students with critical reasoning skills that would make them great professionals.
As Dave Wilson says, “The new section will be a microcosm of today’s B-School classrooms.” Depending on these words of the CEO of GMAC, we can expect that new GMAT will be more resourceful in establishing latent talent that will be most comfortable in making sound decisions , and capable of appraising and learning data.
This new section is all about appraising information on the latest breakthroughs in technology. In order to boost the soundness and strength of GMAT, the questions will include statistics from sources like charts, graphs, spreadsheets, etc. On the basis of B-School activities, the job in front students will be to study the data, draw conclusions, and distinguish relationships between various data points. The entire object behind this new section is to recognize , ascertain , and provide new budding talents to the B-Schools, who can investigate, understand, and infer data; and are capable of making sound decisions.
As it might be suspected , the length of the test will not be altered , nor will the spoken and quantitative sections will be affected due to the addition of the new section. The duration of the test will remain its typical three and half hours even with a new section. This will be achieved by substituting one of the two systematic essay-writing questions with this new introduction.
Besides, with no change in oral and quantitative sections, the test will be weighted on the regular 200-800 scale, with separate score for the essay and the new incorporated reasoning section.
