How To Prepare For An Important Meeting
Ever feel as though you are at breaking point due to a lack of time, space and energy leading up to a meeting. Breaking up the process and being organised each step of the way is the best way to combat feelings of this sort.
Lots of people know what they do not want to say or achieve in a meeting but more often than not they have trouble articulating what they do want to say. Once way to combat this it to have a mental de-clutter as well as a physical de-clutter.
The tips below have been designed to make a difference to how organised you feel in the lead up to your meeting:
To physically de-clutter your life aim to make use of ‘no junk mail’ signs and use stickers with ‘return to sender’ for any unwanted mail. Doing this will cut out a lot of clutter. It is also worth unsubscribing to any useless email subscriptions you have running, by cutting these out you will also cut the risk of being distracted. When possible have separate work and personal emails, that way if you are trying to escape one of the two it is easier. Make sure everything in your office has a place and a purpose, getting rid of any distracting junk is a good idea.
In order to mentally de-junk your life always keep a diary or calendar with you- this way you will always be aware of any approaching meeting and deadlines. Learning to say ‘No’ to people can feel tricky at first but spreading yourself too thinly is a one way ticket to becoming too stressed. Allot time to certain tasks leading up to the meeting i.e. phone calls, answering emails, planning your presentation etc.
Organising a good corporate conference venue can also be a good way to releave stress, knowing that you have good corporate conference facilities for the meeting will also mean you will have access to everything you need.
