From time to time we come across litttle problems and hitches with CMS core systems such as Joomla and we have to produce a workaround for that particular problem and effectively engage our programming staff to solve the problem.

One recent issue we had with Joomla both 1.0 and 1.5 is that the image captioning did not function correctly and the image would not word wrap if the caption option was enabled.

We like to take things just a little step forward when we find solutions to problems and advance the available options for other users of the CMS platforms, and in this case we have produced a captioning update that enhances the original Joomla functionality and also allows a further CSS option for ‘Text Captioning’ (style: textcaption) which also boxes the highlighted text and gives classy quotation marks and nicely formatted text.

This update also gives a noticeable  SEO (search engine optimisation) improvement, getting your articles ranked higher in search engines when you implement the CSS styles in your articles.

The problem with the standard caption system is that you can only get standard text and it is not formatted correctly, does not have image justification facility and the system did not allow for text captioning.
